After last
update's pictures of cool guys and HG and RM logos around the world –
here are some more!
Nach dem letzten Update mit Bildern zu Roy Frank's coolem Tuning-"Flyxie
Bike" haben uns ein paar Emails und das ein oder
andere Bild erreicht. Aus Platzgründen hier nur eine kleine, erweiterte
Auswahl; wir werden die Serie aber bei Gelegenheit fortsetzen. Und übrigens: Die ganzen Sticker gibt es
nach wie vor kostenfrei (siehe weiter unten)! Eine einfache
Email genügt!
After the last update with pictures of Roy Frank's cool version of a
tuned "Flyxie Bike" we got a few emails and
a couple of more pictures. Due to a lack of space, here's just another small
collection; but we plan to continue the series some later time. And by the way: All the stickers are still

Roy Frank sent us
these pictures of his tuned HeliGraphix "Fixie
Bike" – or is it a tuned helicopter?!
Der neueste Trend in Sachen Fahrrad sind die sogenannten
"Fixie Bikes" – wie der Name schon
nahe legt, verfügen sie über keine Gangschaltung, sondern über eine feste
Untersetzung (genau wie Hubschrauber!). Roy Frank hat uns ein Video der Bikes in Action geschickt und es kommentiert mit "Das
ist wie 3D-Fliegen mit dem Fahrrad!" – und wir müssen sagen, das
trifft den Kern!
Wir haben schon alle möglichen Bilder von
getunten HeliGraphix-Dingen erhalten, von
Hubschraubern, Flächenflugzeugen, R/C-Cars, Booten, Startkisten, Akkupacks,
Computern (DER Trend schlechthin!), Autos, Eingangstüren, Getränken,
Skateboards und vieles mehr war schon alles dabei. Aber wir können uns nicht
erinnern, schon mal einen HG- oder RM-Sticker auf einem Fixie
Bike entdeckt zu haben J Also besten Dank noch mal an Roy, und viel
Spaß mit seiner speziellen Tuning-Version!
One of the latest trends in biking are the so-called "Fixie
Bikes" – like the name suggests they
have a fixed gear ratio (just like helicopters!) rather than a gearshift. Roy
Frank sent us a video of the bikes in action and wrote "That's like 3D
flying with bikes!" – and indeed, it is!
We've received photos of all kinds of tuned HeliGraphix stuff, from helicopters,
planes, R/C cars, boats, start boxes, battery packs, computers (that seems to
be THE trend!), cars, front doors, beverages, skateboards, and much more! But
so far we can't remember having seen a HG or RM sticker on a Fixie Bike J So thanks
again to Roy, and good luck with his special tuning version!

A number of
people have written in and asked for WSF info beyond the blog
– here it is!
Wir bekommen nach wie vor etliche Emails in Bezug auf
das "World Scenic Flights"-Projekt.
Der Film verlässt langsam aber sicher den R/C-Bereich und erreicht zunehmend
mehr Leute außerhalb des Hobbys – und das ist gut so! Die Download-Raten
haben sich mittlerweile eingependelt, die exakte Zahl ist schwer zu ermitteln,
liegt aber vermutlich im Bereich einiger 10.000. All diejenigen, die uns direkt
kontaktiert haben, haben das File meist sogar mehreren Leuten im Bekanntenkreis
vorgeführt; in einem Falle waren das im Rahmen eines firmeninternen Ereignisses
sogar über 100 Leute. Ob man dies auf alle Downloadenden
extrapolieren kann, lässt sich schwer sagen; dennoch ist es wahrscheinlich, dass der Film bis dato von über 100.000
Zuschauern gesehen worden ist. Innerhalb eines Jahres sollte es daher
möglich sein, eine halbe bis ganze Million Leute weltweit zu erreichen. Aber
wie auch immer, obgleich die Zahlen interessant sein mögen, ist es nicht das,
was den Film letztendlich ausmacht, oder?!
We are still receiving a number of emails regarding the "World
Scenic Flights" project. The file slowly but surely leaves the R/C sector
and reaches more and more people outside the hobby – and this is a very
good thing! The download rates have reached a constant level, the total
downloads go into the 10,000s. Those who have talked to us said they had shown
the file to several friends and relatives; someone even showed it in his
company to over 100 people. It is hard to say whether you can extrapolate that
to all downloaders, but it is likely that up to now more than 100,000 people have watched the
film. Within one year it should be possible to reach about 500,000 to one
million people worldwide. But anyway, even though the numbers may be
interesting that's not what really counts, is it?!
Einige würden sich über ein WSF-Buch
freuen. Material und Abenteuer gibt es genügend, um solch eine Publikation
zusammenzustellen, aber die dafür notwendige Zeit ist derzeit nicht zu
bewerkstelligen; in guter Druckqualität hat ein derartiges Werk zudem seinen
Preis. Als kleiner Ausgleich jedoch: Der
mitunter bestdokumentierte Teil der WSF (u.a.) sind
unsere Abenteuer in Ägypten. Der Modellsportverlag ist unserer Bitte
nachgekommen, den Artikel aus ROTOR 07/2007 öffentlich über unsere Webseiten
verfügbar zu machen. Neben echtem Abenteuer wird hier ein guter Einblick
gewährt, wie wir uns den Weg durch Sand, Gefahren und Behörden gekämpft haben!

book. Well, there is enough adventures and footage to write such a
publication, but the time needed to do so is too much to handle at this point,

Russia faces its
worst crisis in years. Now Sergeji Stanikow returns one more time to save his nation!
Die russische Nation sieht schweren Zeiten entgegen: Die Wodka-Vorräte sind auf
ein Minimum geschrumpft, die Bevölkerung ist erschöpft, und Unruhen breiten
sich über das Land aus. Dem Kreml bleibt keine andere Wahl, als eine
Krisensitzung einzuberufen und den Notstand auszurufen. Doch es bleibt dabei: Man befindet sich tief inmitten in einer
"Nationalen Krise"!
Was bleibt in einer derart hoffnungslosen
Situation noch zu tun? Dimitry – rechte Hand im
Kreml – klammert sich an eine letzte Chance. Er zückt sein Mobiltelefon
und ruft den Mann um Hilfe, der schon mehr als einmal seine Nation gerettet
hat, und der seit geraumer Zeit von seinem Exil in Deutschland aus versucht,
das "Alte System" in teilen der westlichen Welt wiederherzustellen.

The Russian nation is facing hard times: The vodka reserves have shrunken to an absolute
minimum, the people are exhausted and unrest shakes the country. The Kremlin
has no choice but to call a crisis meeting and to declare a state of emergency.
But the fact remains: The country is
deep in the middle of a "National Crisis"!
Now what could you do in such a hopeless situation? Dmitry
– right hand in the Kremlin – clings to one last chance. He pulls
out his mobile phone and calls the one man who has saved his nation more than

Helicopters & WSF: Behind the scenes! +++
Tobias Wagner explains what
helicopter physics, aerodynamics and the WSF project are all about
HeliGraphix ist seit langem auch in der "Edutainment"-Sparte
etabliert, und als Naturwissenschaftler und Maschinenbauer verfügen wir über
die besten Voraussetzungen, um Themen wie Hubschrauber-Physik und Aerodynamik
verständlich aufzubereiten und publikumswirksam in Szene zu setzen. In der R/C-Szene hört man leider (zu) oft
die wildesten Theorien, woher die Phasenverschiebung im Rotor kommt, wie die
Heli-Steuerung funktioniert, und was eigentlich die Corioliskraft
ist. Tobias Wagner und Steven-V gaben kürzlich am
"Karlsruhe Institute of Technology" ein Stelldichein, um auf
unterhaltsame Weise mit Vorstadtlegenden aufzuräumen und dem interessierten
Publikum auch exklusive Einblicke in die "World Scenic
Flights"-Mission zu gewähren.
HeliGraphix has been well-established also in the
"edutainment" sector for a long time. We are mostly natural
scientists and engineers and thus have the best prerequisites to stage topics
like helicopter physics and aerodynamics so that they definitely have a lot of
public appeal. In the R/C sector one
(too) often hears the wildest theories about where the phase shift in rotor
systems comes from, how the helicopter controls work and what that Coriolis force is all about. Tobias Wagner and Steven-V
attracted quite a crowd at the "Karlsruhe
Institute of Technology" when they recently gave an interesting and
entertaining talk to do away with some urban legends and to give exclusive
insights into the "World Scenic Flights" mission.
